No 636 Cape Sugar Bird - Promerops cafer on King Protea - Protea cynaroides

About the Bird - an Artist's view

Sunbirds are great little birds, not only for their colors but they have a busy, lively attitude and become very tame.

In Nelspruit, near Kruger National Park, Gurney's Sugarbird were the culprits. In the Cape it's the Cape Sugar Bird that is guilty. They chase the sunbirds and I don't like that.

All sugarbirds should be sent for road rage classes, to see if we can not improve their manners.

The Cape Sugarbird must do a good job pollinating Protea's, just look how impressive this King Protea is.
